The Objects Of The Society :
- To promote the practice of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in India.
- To encourage study and research in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in all possible ways.
- To formulate clinical practice guidelines and consensus statements on various gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disorders in children which will facilitate optimal and uniform care of children within the country.
- To strengthen existing training programs and initiate new courses in the subject.
- To for mulate guidelines to accredit institutions and individuals to practice the speciality.
- To co-operate and affiliate with other scientific bodies in India (e.g. IAP, ISG) for the purpose of promoting pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
- To establish scientific collaboration with centers, institutions and professional organizations abroad (ESPGHAN, NASPGHAN etc.) who are involved in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
- To do all such other things as may be necessary, incidental, conducive or convenient to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.

The Objects Of The Society :
- To promote the practice of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in India.
- To encourage study and research in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in all possible ways.

Definitions :
- The Indian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition or ISPGHAN has been established for the objectives specified in the Memorandum of Association.
- The activities of ISPGHAN shall be conducted through its registered office at Chennai / Office of the Secretary.
- The fiscal year of ISPGHAN shall be from April 1st to March 31st of the succeeding year.
- The operational year of the society shall be from January 1st to December 31st.
- The affairs of ISPGHAN shall be managed by 4 Office Bearers and an Executive Committee consisting of 9 members including the office bearers.
- At all places hereinafter “he/him/himself’’ shall be taken to mean “she/her/herself” as well.
- At all places hereinafter “member” shall be taken to mean member of the society.
Membership
- All existing members of the pediatric gastroenterology subspeciality chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics as on the date of registration of ISPGHAN will automatically become members of ISPGHAN. Such automatic membership will be valid only for a period of three years from the date of registration of the society.
- All automatic members who desire to become permanent members of ISPGHAN shall pay a subscription amount as decided at the GBM of ISPGHAN and obtain a new membership number, provided they are eligible for membership as per the society’s membership criteria.
- The membership of the ISPGHAN shall be of five categories namely : (a) Life Member (b) Associate Life Member (c) Affiliate Foreign Member (d) Elected Fellows (e) Allied Health Member.
- Fresh/New Life Membership of ISPGHAN shall be open only to members of the medical profession, who are resident in India and who have a postgraduate degree in Pediatrics (MD, DNB), Gastroenterology or Pediatric gastroenterology from India or abroad, recognized by the Medical Council of India, and interested or involved in the practice of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
- Associate Life Membership shall be open to members of the medical profession who are Diploma holders in pediatrics, Postgraduate students in pediatrics, gastroenterology or pediatric gastroenterology as well as to postgraduates in other medical disciplines (recognized by the competent authorities in India), who are interested or involved in the practice of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
- Affiliate Foreign Membership shall be open to members of the medical profession who are not ordinarily residents of India, and have postgraduate degree in Pediatrics, Pediatric gastroenterology or Gastroenterology, recognized in their respective country of residence.
- Elected Fellows will comprise those among the Life/Affiliate foreign members, or persons of international eminence in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology, who are chosen by a committee comprising the President, Secretary and 3 members elected for a two year term during the general body meeting. Selection of fellows shall be in recognition of their contribution to the cause of Pediatric Gastroenterology in India or abroad. The Fellows will be accorded a separate membership number and shall use the title FISPG. One fellow may be selected for every 150 members in the society, until the membership of the society reaches 750, after which the general body shall alter this ratio as deemed fit.
